Pro rez instead of animation

In job chaining can you use use pro rez for first step instead of animation?

I'm not sure. I'm thinking that there might be some resolution limitations, but i'm just guessing. Most of my files are short so I use the lossless option, but that would be very ungainly for longer files. Give ProRes a try, let us know how it goes.
