1080p versus 1080i

With Sony EX1 what are the advantages of shooting in 1080p versus 1080i if you are also planning to broadcast/cable/satellite your program as well as use for web?

I haven't shot for broadcast/cable or satellite, so I'm not sure about any downside about shooting in progressive for those media. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
